February Sales and Plans

First Friday in Louisville generated many sales for CFA Gallery, including the sale of Linda Armantrout's "Rock Art #1". Linda is thrilled that it went to the new home of Louisville Art Patrons, Val and Bob. Also in the Studio, Linda is experimenting with some layering and subtractive techniques with oil on paper. Two pieces will go to Ken Sanville to photograph full size images to be used as documentation, and for Giclee printing in the future. These paintings will be offered in Available Paintings soon. In the development side of the business, Linda has begun planning a trip to the Santa Ynez Valley in April, 2013 to explore opening a market for her work in California.

This piece is a great example of the power of professional framing. The charcoal drawing can be seen at Creative Framing Art Gallery, 916 Main Street, in the Louisville Arts District. Working on Paper

Charcoal Bison BeforeWorking on paper has been so gratifying. Linda has been working on 5 pieces since Fall. Linda spent yesterday afternoon collaborating with Janet Russell at CFA Gallery on selecting a frame and matting for a charcoal on paper of a Bison. The paper work deserves first class, archival framing. Thanks to Larson Juhl and CFA for donating most of the framing on the piece as part of Artist Appreciation Week in the Louisville Arts District. The finished piece will only be sold in Colorado. Armantrout Studio News will share a photo of the framed piece soon.

January blues become full spectrum color.

"Peace of Earth"January is always such a strange month in the Studio. After the holidays, Linda is more than ready to get back in process, but of course, there is information to be gathered and taxes to be filed. This year, Linda took the first 2 weeks to make art. Here is a piece, 19x24 inches oil on paper. It is finished, but not available until professionally photographed. Other work on paper is in progress. The future seems to include many more Buffalo images and offerings on paper.

Finished Paintings

Armantrout Studio will add 2 paintings finished in Fall, 2012 to the Available Paintings page. The first is titled Of the Earth and is the first painting of a Series to be developed using the American Bison as an icon. The Final painting, of 2012, is titled Spirit Horses and continues to connect Armantrout's marks to the sacred and ancient marks of rock and cave art.
