Transformation, Transcendence, Transfiguration

Linda Armantrout will be showing paintings at the Vista Grande Public Library in Eldorado during the month of May, 2024. The work you will see emerged from her exploration of the three concepts in the heading. She realizes she is trying to describe the ineffable and loves every moment of trying.

Since moving to New Mexico, the content of her work has evolved with her deepening of feelings about transitions. The subject matter of the work has changed by living with the landscape and wildlife of New Mexico. The colors have changed with the extraordinary light and magnificent night skies of Eldorado.

The paintings you will see at the Vista Grande Public Library Show in May are oil on canvas. Linda often uses cold wax, oil pastels, or oil sticks to enhance the communication. Color is Linda's primary element, and she uses intensity of color to make a point. Line and gesture are also important ways to tell what is in her heart.

The Eldorado Studio Tour is the main event of the business year. Armantrout Studio welcomes art lovers into the studio and home gallery for rich conversations about art. New Mexico has brought many new friends and collectors. Old friends, new friends, and collectors visit from out of state.   

See the Vista Grande Public Library Show during library hours April 29th-May 30th. A public reception will be held May 4, 1pm-3pm. Linda will be in attendence and looks forward to meeting you.

September, 2024 will be Armantrout Studio's 4th year participating in the Eldorado Studio Tour, the Tour is September 21st & 22nd, 10am-5pm. A Preview Gallery Opening Reception is at 1 Hacienda Loop, Friday, September 20, 5-7 pm

Begin Again

Eldorado Studio Tour in September, 2023 was a fun and rich experience. armantrout Studio and friends rocked it. After a few days rest, Linda blasted off with a charcoal drawing. Followed in the next few weeks with an oil on Canvas version. It is always a challenge to go from describing with line to describing with color and shape but by the New Year the canvas was done, at least for now. January is almost always a fallow month. There is time to read old journals, ground in silence, and let the ideas percolate. Watch this space for what comes through in February. Thanks, as always, for staying in touch.

Thanksgiving

Jump "30x30" The 2-day 2023 Eldorado Studio Tour became the most fantastic couple of weeks. New friends, new collectors, new homes for favorite paintings. Linda is so grateful to everyone who came to see the work and to everyone who wished Armantrout Studio well. Cheryl Peterson, Cynthia Bargman, and Linda Armantrout made a great team to meet and greet. Roger Farwell made Sunday afternoon an event to remember. So many special people connected to the work. New collectors came to buy the week before and then added to their collections during the sale. There were many sales to people who love art during the Tour. People brought friends to the studio during the weeks following the sale. It was all exciting and affirming. The painting "Jump" went home with a lovely couple to hang by one of Linda's heroes, John Nieto. Linda is deeply grateful to all, and her heart is filled up.

The 31st Annual Eldorado Studio Tour is September 23 &24

Guardian of the mysteries...Get ready, set, go. The paintings are painted and being framed. Graphic Sky Printing made beautiful, accurate images. City Different Realty is sponsoring Armantrout Studio again this year. Strong leadership and everyone doing their part to build the event is adding to the excitement.
