Ongoing and changing exhibit at CFA Gallery

Linda Armantrout will be showing work at Creative Framing Art Gallery, 916 Main Street, Louisville, Colorado throughout the year. The artist will be in attendance on the First Friday of each month for the Louisville Arts District ArtWalk. CFA Gallery provides music and refreshments. Janet Russell has been essential to creating a vibrant Main Street in Louisville. The gallery is open Monday-Saturday from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm. Closed Sunday. Enjoy the murals along the alley behind the gallery (Via Artista). Enjoy first class food and drink all along Main Street. Linda teaches art basics in the gallery's classroom first and third Saturdays. Color theory class begins in the fall. Linda is painting in her studio now towards an exhibition of recent work never shown before in Louisville. The recent icons and spirit messengers will be shown in November 2017-January, 2018 at CFA.

This from Black Elk—“I think I have told you, but if I have not, you must have understood, that a man who has a vision is not able to use the power of it until after he has performed the vision on earth for the people to see.“ Please, come "see".

About the work from Armantrout Studio

Linda Armantrout makes drawings and paintings. In 2008, the Power Images became the exhibit "Horse Power as Spirit". This body of work evolved to use the horse and bison as icons to connect to ancestors, making marks on marks.  Included in the solo show was the Glory Series painted with reference to small plein air paintings. These two approaches have come together in the work shown last summer at Sellars Project Space in Salida, Colorado. The Spirit Messenger Series continues to be Linda’s focus in the Studio. See these paintings at Available Paintings.

To the viewer of these paintings, Linda offers this quote from Nick Ortner: “I heard them call your name…the Gods…the Ancients…the Universe…the All Knowing…the All Seeing… They Whispered… it’s time…its time for you to be you. It’s time for you to love more, give more, be more, live more…it’s time…and that time is now.”

San Miguel County Reconciliation Ceremony/Chipeta

Chipeta was an Indian Rights Advocate, Diplomat, and Peacekeeper. She used diplomacy to try to achieve peace with the white settlers in Colorado. She was highly respected by both the Ute and white people. In 1985, Chipeta was inducted into Colorado Women's Hall of Fame.

On October 8, 2016, Wayne Iverson of the Chipeta Mountain Project was able to gift my painting of Chipeta to a great grand nephew, McCook, at a reconciliation ceremony in San Miguel County. You can read more on my blog. I am so grateful and feel honored that the gift was received by an ancestor of this incredible woman and peaceful leader of the Utes.

Exhibition at Sellars Project Space through September 1st

Reconnection to Spirit is the title of an exhibition of recent work by Linda Armantrout. From July 22nd through September 1, Sellars Project Space is offering a solo show of Armantrout's spirit messengers. The artist reception is August 13, 2016 from 4pm to 8pm. Sellars Project Space is in the Twitchell Building, 101 North F Street in the heart of the Creative District in beautiful Salida, Colorado.

Armantrout’s work offers symbolically charged animals and people as  messengers of the power of Spirit. It is important to the artist to paint from a state of exploration and experimentation. Her intention is to allow room in each piece for the viewer to find personal meaning and connection.
