Robert Miles Parker, 72, Artist of Cities

from the NYTimes"...Though Mr. Parker also painted in oils — portraits and floral still lifes as well as cityscapes — it was his pen-and-ink work of aspects of Manhattan’s architectural profile that garnered the most attention. Lively and reverently joyful, representational but far from architecturally precise, his drawings were shown frequently in both private galleries and public places, including the Empire State Building, the New York Public Library and the Museum of the City of New York...."http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/28/arts/design/robert-miles-parker-dies-at-72-artist-and-preservationist.html?_r=1

Antoni Tapies dies at 88

"In our World, in which religious images are getting more and more secular, we are losing our sense of the eternal. I think it's a loss that has done damage to modern art. Painting is a return to origins."— Tapies, 1990.
Thanks for all of it.

Edith Niblo Exercises

Saturday morning classes are at 5 students with room for one more. We have begun the Niblo 20 and this is my favorite part. After 22 years, I still see something fresh and new from each student. The color students are tearing it up with really exciting color mixtures. Last day is June 2. Check out a summer workshop in Ridgway. See Class Schedule for more info and plan for Fall!

Four serious students are joining me on Saturday Mornings at CFA Gallery, 916 Main Street, in Louisville, Colorado. Lynn and Colleen are studying Color Theory and Valerie and Janie are studying Basic Design- Relationships within the frame. See more on the Class Schedule page. Think about joining us for rich discussions, right brain timelessness, and to improve your art... or to start making art. The space is beautiful, light-filled, and stimulating. Linda Armantrout gives Janet Russell a big thank you for all the benefit she brings to Boulder County artists.  http://www.louisvilleartsdistrict.com/

CFA Gallery is featuring friend and previous student, Donna Flebbe on Friday, Dec. 9, 2011, 6pm-9pm.
